Wombat Waiting
Description
In the aftermath of a devastating wildfire, a homeless dog, singed and covered in ash, is nicknamed "Wombat" by the community. Guided by an inner "Voice," Wombat believes she is destined to find her special human. She takes up residence on a bench near a makeshift community center, which has been repurposed to house displaced animals, including an elderly fruit bat and a young Northern saw-whet owl. Despite the efforts of many humans, Wombat refuses to move from her perch, waiting for someone. The story follows Wombat's journey as she waits for her special person amidst the devastation, exploring themes of compassion, resilience, and the power of unexpected friendships.
