Wicked
Description
"Wicked: The Graphic Novel Part I" is a 2025 adaptation of Gregory Maguire's novel, illustrated by Scott Hampton. This graphic novel reimagines the classic "Wizard of Oz" tale from the perspective of Elphaba, the future Wicked Witch of the West. Born with emerald-green skin, Elphaba faces discrimination and isolation in Oz. As she attends Shiz University, she befriends Galinda, who later becomes Glinda the Good Witch. The story delves into Elphaba's transformation into a misunderstood activist, challenging the oppressive Wizard's regime and defending the rights of the Animals—sentient creatures threatened with exile. This adaptation offers a fresh visual perspective on Elphaba's journey, exploring themes of identity, power, and societal expectations.
